ETCHINGS ON CLAY

Our workshop series is back! Each summer, we have the privilege of hosting a series of 5-6 workshops, taught by a highly talented group of clay-based, Bay Area artists. The series is put together by our good friend and artist, Dharma Strasser MacColl, whose own work we highlighted in one of our past newsletters. This year, Dharma has put together a group of artists that focus on the art of drawing and painting on clay. These hands-on classes are an incredible opportunity for you to create your own work of art and be inspired by some of our favorite artists. One of the artists in this summer's series is Diana Fayt. We've been in love with her work since well before she began participating in our workshops. Diana uses graphical elements to integrate all of her artistic loves; drawing, painting, printmaking and clay and refers to it as "etchings on clay". She gathers inspiration from nature, as well as everyday life stories and applies them to functional ceramic vessels. Her pieces are often narrative — marked with time, images and moments throughout her life. Her work is exhibited in galleries and fine boutiques throughout the US, Japan, Australia and Europe — and very shortly in the Heath Factory Store.
