THE ULTIMATE GIFT
by catherine bailey and simone earnhardt
It's about this time every year that Christmas tree lots take up residence, menorahs adorn store shelves, wish lists are exchanged and companies begin their push to get you to buy their version of the ultimate gift the holidays are here! In the spirit, we thought we'd share with you our version of the ultimate gift. It, however, isn't contingent on a season...
We put considerable thought into limiting our impact on the environment but the nature of our business requires packing fragile products for shipping across the country. Torn between ensuring orders arrive intact and bettering our relationship with the environment, we set out to find an alternative to the horrors of bubble wrap and packing peanuts. We found it! There's no good way to say this without sounding like an infomercial, so here goes... goodbye, Styrofoam and plastic hello, ExpandOS. We're thrilled to announce our new packing and shipping method, which is the Heath version of the ultimate gift to the earth.
Here's how they work: made from 30% recycled paper, biodegradable and completely recyclable after use, ExpandOS are 1 1/2" cardboard triangles, engineered to adhere to the laws of physics, organizing themselves within the space around them to provide an energy-diverting, shock absorbing cradle for our products. No bubble wrap required, none!

ExpandOS come to us in flat sheets; they're fed into a no-emission, energy-efficient machine and out pop these tiny structures. We toss them into the box, add our products, fill the remainder of the package with ExpandOS and we're ready for shipping.
Now, if you'd like to see ExpandOS in action & shop for the holidays at the same time, may we suggest a shipment of our new vase collection we feel it's the second-best ultimate gift (did we say that?).
