Seattle, WA

I have never before sent a message based on a magazine article I have read. I just finished reading an article in the April 2007 Sunset magazine that featured Catherine Bailey and Robin Petravic's home. I am thrilled that they were moved to purchase Heath Ceramics.

My husband and I, and our children visited the Heath factory back in 1992. We were staying with friends who lived within a few hundred yards of Heath. Like Catherine and Robin, we "stumbled upon the factory," while exploring the neighborhood. We were both familiar with Heath from our childhoods. Both sets of parents appreciated modern design, and had some Heath pieces. Our house in Seattle was built in 1947, so Heath fits right in here, as well. Until visiting the factory, I don't think either of us realized that it still existed. We knew then that it was not thriving. We talked about taking it over - a ludicrous notion for two lawyers from Seattle! We worried so about the fate of Heath.

We have watched happily over the past several years as we have seen a resurgence of the Heath products. It was so comforting to learn a little bit about Catherine and Robin, who have put together a wonderfully warm, tasteful, and restrained home. I am so happy to see the company in such good hands. Please pass on my congratulations to them both. I look forward to another visit to the factory before too long.
