What started as a simple capsule casting, this object was transformed with a series of cuts, shifts and transpositions to create a piece caught in motion. Though art object in one orientation, flip it over to reveal an opening which will allow you to use it as a charming little vase. As part of Design Series 6 this piece was created from the desire to challenge and invigorate the slipcasting and mold making process at Heath.

Designed and handcrafted by Tung Chiang in the Heath Clay Studio in San Francisco, CA.

Design Series began in 2013 as a creative pursuit. With clay as his medium, Tung Chiang explores a singular subject each year that culminates in a show and sale of his work. Throughout its eight years, several of his ideas have informed Heath's everyday product lines, from new shapes to dynamic glazes.
