The surface of this bowl features a complex three glaze application. First a gradient of Cast Iron Grey and Matte Black is applied to give a sense of depth. Then Redwood is applied with a squeeze bottle and painted onto the surface in broken lines. The result is dramatic and rustic.

Design Series began in 2013 as a creative pursuit. With clay as his medium, Tung Chiang explores a singular subject each year that culminates in a show and sale of his work. Throughout its eight years, several of his ideas have informed Heath's everyday product lines, from new shapes to dynamic glazes.
