Mexican-American artist Carolina Jimenez calls her woven works “monuments”—to memory, bodies, and daily life. She weaves each piece by hand from natural fibers dyed using tradition Oaxacan methods and fibers she dyes herself. The visual quality of each piece is a testament to her exploration of color, tension, and material. In her words this particular piece "is a meditation on place that became dear to me a a few years ago—my perch in front of my living room window. It was a place that I watched the days pass, the seasons change, caught glimpses of neighbors in the wanderings of their own lives. A place I was sad to leave, but happy to have had." This collection was commissioned for our Summer Seasonal Collection is available exclusively online through Heath.
