What's on sale?
Dinnerware seconds, past seasonal and holiday collections, and seconds of hospitality items including some Heath Clay Studio pieces. What about Heath Tile?
For the 15% discount at the Sausalito showroom (in-person only), all overstock tile is included.
Will there be a 15% discount available on your website too?
The sale is at Heath Sausalito only. Follow along and stay tuned on Instagram @heathceramics for something special for those who aren’t nearby!
Why is that?
With seconds, beauty is in the eye of the beholder — a “second” quality item for one person may be a first quality item for another. Quite simply, the factory only produces so many second quality items — good thing, but this means less seconds to go around. We like that the sale respects the capacity of our factory, celebrates the range of goods it produces, and brings the community together, too.
Can I participate if I live outside of Sausalito, CA?
We want every part of our community to be able to join in on the fun of the day. Come see us during regular showroom hours on Saturday and Sunday, May 11–12 at our Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Ferry Building showrooms, to enter a raffle. For those afar and online, we have something else special in the works — be sure to follow us and stay tuned on Instagram @heathceramics for details!
Will product be restocked throughout the weekend?
Everything that we have will be out at the start of the weekend. There will be no secret stashes, and no restocking throughout.
I’m a registrant. Can I get the 15% discount in showrooms, and complete my registry during the sale?
The 15% discount in select showrooms does not apply to virtual registries and registry completion. Our staff isn’t able to offer you the service and attention you deserve during this time.
Will you have one-of-a-kind products available?
Yes — we’ll have second quality Heath Clay Studio pieces, as well as other Heath seconds and thirds. Overage from custom Hospitality orders, that you see in the showroom, are included in the discount.
What’s the best day/time to come?
This depends on many variables, not the least of which, your preference and patience. Some people enjoy the buzz, and others prefer to avoid it. Afternoons tend to be quieter. You can also arrive on the second day of the sale – we’ll still have plenty of items. Though it’s never a ghost town, many people crowd the morning and leave early evening, making that time a bit more breathable.
How can I avoid the long lines/wait?
One line or another is inevitable. That said, we do our very best to provide a great experience to everyone who visits. Here are some ways to make things a bit more enjoyable:
1. Prepare to wait. While we’ve become incredibly adept at working the room, lines do form. They’re inevitable. Also, it can be tempting to find ways of getting ahead or skirting the crowds. But, what fun is that? With respect for our neighbors, a community state of mind, and a smile on our faces, we can all enjoy this together!
2. Don’t forget to eat. Seriously! We know it’s easy to forget the basics, but this is an important one. Lines happens. Hunger hits. We’re here to assist with coffee and nibbles, but it’s never a bad idea to bring along a snack.
3. Bring family and/or friends. We limit entry when our showrooms hit capacity, so keep in mind that there might be a wait to get in during peak hours. Why not keep each other company?
Will there be food and drink available?
Any tips on bringing kids and dogs?
They’re very cute, but they’re not super happy at our sale. That said, we have kids and dogs, and know that they like to come along (and sometimes, they simply must!). In that case, we suggest bringing with you an on-body carrying option for your child, and ask that you parking strollers outside. This is as much for you and your child as it is for the other visitors — space is tight and falling ceramics are heavy. Similarly, we love your dogs, but your dogs don’t love these crowds — trust us. It’s overwhelming and unenjoyable for them and, subsequently, you. They’re welcome to hang outside and/or stay home in solitude. And, remember food and water. Everyone’s better satiated and hydrated.
Are you doing tours? Will there be other activities?
Beautiful bouquets will be available for purchase from the folks at La Fleuriste — merry Mother’s Day! We will hold our regular factory tours in San Francisco, but our Sausalito factory tours will halt and resume in the following weeks. Please join us then. Sign up here.
Finally, we thought you’d be curious... Why are Heath products rarely on sale?
Great question. The simplest and most direct answer: It never gets less expensive to make our product. Our prices reflect the true cost of making fairly and sustainably, in the Bay Area. We treat our staff well; our goods lasts a very long time; and we’re careful to remain at a scale that allows us to continue this way of business indefinitely. Fair models have a price tag, one that we’re proud to tout. As a rule of thumb, discounts and low prices pass expenses down the line — someone always pays, even if it’s not obvious who — this may be in quality, environment, employees, and so on.
