This dramatic vessel is glazed to highlight the dual nature of the layered glaze. The piece is first glazed with KPFA, a matte pale green. Then the glaze is wiped off of the portion above the neckline and glazed over entirely with Cast Iron Grey. The result is both a display of the subtlety of one glaze and its interaction with the other.

Design Series began in 2013 as a creative pursuit. With clay as his medium, Tung Chiang explores a singular subject each year that culminates in a show and sale of his work. Throughout its eight years, several of his ideas have informed Heath's everyday product lines, from new shapes to dynamic glazes.
