          Flat Bud Vase

          Taking ideas from Design Series 6, this piece (literally) deconstructs the iconic shape of our bud vase. Here it is reimagined on its side. It is still a vessel but the possibilities for plant arrangement are radically different from the original. The Design Series is an opportunity for Clay Studio Director Tung Chiang to create a collection of objects exploring a singular idea or theme every year. The ideas have ranged from shapes like candleholders, concepts like “Forming Fables” or techniques like glaze chemistry. To make this set of pieces Tung took the opportunity to revisit the ideas of Design Series past to create a retrospective of brand new pieces.
