Los Angeles, CA
We wanted our first location outside of Sausalito to be more than just a retail location. Our dream scenario consisted of a space that would emphasize the making as much as the displaying of the work as much as the gorgeous end result. And by golly, that's exactly what we got, thanks to our friends at Commune Design.
Each location showcases our dinnerware, tile, and homeware products from like-minded designer/makers around the United States (and beyond). And, like any family, each kid, err, we mean showroom, goes about it in their own way:
The partnership between Heath and Adam Silverman, potter and LA studio director, is one based on mutual admiration and continued inspiration. Silverman’s work in ceramics is wholly personal, yet with a tangible tie to and exploration of the design history of Heath.
Continuing an evolutionary arc from before, Adam’s recent work explores the merger of form, color and texture in search of something both new and timeless, strange and familiar, ugly and beautiful. This work serves as an inspiration within Heath and emphasizes our vision to have the making process transparent for our customers.
Adam contributes to the Heath studio vision and design, and also creates meaningful connections with our surrounding creative communities.
Making and Curating
Inspired by iconic mid-century design houses and by Heath's designer-maker legacy, Heath Los Angeles includes a studio where Adam Silverman designs and creates original pieces for our three showrooms, as well as produces small, custom works for the local Los Angeles design, restaurant and hospitality community.
Speaking of community, we also have a gallery space where we host shows of work sympathetic to our aesthetic, mission, and many interests.
If there's a tile project in your horizon and you have yet to visit our Los Angeles showroom, you just might want to swing by the next time you're in the neighborhood. Installation boards cover two of our walls while the back wall is tiled from head to toe in various shades of blue and gray. Our kitchen's backsplash showcases the whites from our Modern Basics line, our classic oval dimensional tiles line the corner entrance outside in a glossy blue, and our working tables are clad with paprika Dual Glaze tiles.
Bring your clients, or just yourself. Either way, we're available — 7 days/week during regular showroom hours — to help or for sheer inspiration.
