It’s a new year; new people, new possibilities, and...a new Annual Edition to collect!
Annual Editions are limited runs of classic Coupe shapes that showcase special, high-craft glaze techniques, available for one year only. For 2025,
we reimagined Edith Heath’s Sea & Sand fade technique across three beloved shapes (the Bread & Butter Plate, the Salad Plate, and the Dinner Plate). Suffice it to say, the results were breathtaking—and the perfect reason to add a little extra eye candy to your Heath collection.
This year, we started with the same three shapes, but revived a different historic technique: Landscape. Developed by Edith (alongside our very own Winnie Crittenden!) in the 1970s, this technique involves carefully pouring multiple glazes across a piece’s surface to simulate, for example, a hazy mountain range, tree line, or seascape. Requiring both a steady hand and an intimate knowledge of the materials and how they’ll interact, the Landscape technique is a testament to our glazing team’s experience, dedication, and sheer talent.
Of course, Landscape is more than just a technical feat; it’s also absolutely stunning—especially when combined with the glazes we chose for this year’s Annual Edition. The Dinner Plate in Indigo Landscape calls to mind a moody nighttime beach scene, complete with foamy surf and starlight reflected in the water’s surface. The Salad Plate in Aqua Landscape, on the other hand, is bright and crisp; conjuring images of snow-blanketed summits under an icy blue sky. Arguably the most dramatic of the bunch—The Bread & Butter Plate in Zinnia Landscape—combines two rich red glazes with deep blue Lagoon; in the kiln, they meld and bubble to create something mysterious and mesmerizing.
Despite the delicate process (and the one-of-a-kind beauty it creates), these are the same Heath plates you know and love; they’re made for everyday use, and won’t have any trouble fitting in alongside the rest of your favorite shapes and glazes. They make excellent gifts, too!
As with the inaugural Annual Edition launch, this new set will only be
available until the end of 2026 (each piece features a special stamp denoting its year of release). That gives you plenty of time to mull over which one is your favorite—and to imagine what the next year’s collection might look like. Enjoy!
