The frosty surface texture of this one-of-a-kind container is created with a special technique involving spraying and gently applying Opaque White on top of Emerald. Our master glazer Winnie Crittenden glazed the piece and it's paired with a hand-carved wood top by Hideki Takayama. Winnie worked side-by-side with Edith Heath (her aunt) and learned everything about glazing. Her decades of knowledge and experience are on display with these spectacular and—at times—dramatic glazes. Hideki Takayama is a self-taught sculptor whose work ranges from the functional to the sensual. He lives and works out of his home workshop in Mashiko, Japan—a rural, mountainous region outside of Tokyo famous for its local ceramics community.

Ceramic: We recommend hand washing this piece with a mild, non-acidic and non-abrasive dish detergent, such as Seventh Generation or Planet Dishwashing Detergent. Please note that direct use on wood may cause water marks or scratching.
Wood: Though the wood has been varnished take care not to expose the piece to moisture. Occasionally wipe with a dry cloth to keep dust off the surface.
