Tradition is important at Heath. We uphold the artistry and ethos of our founder, Edith Heath, by continuing to make beautiful, functional products with integrity and purpose. That said, it would be out of step with Heath's history if we found ourselves stuck in the past.
Edith was a visionary at heart—a problem solver, an innovator, and a hands-on maker who understood that the best ideas emerge by way of play and experimentation. Our seasonal collections are a reflection of that exploratory spirit; they give us a chance to discover new modes of expression, new palettes, and new ways to celebrate Heath’s legacy of craft..
This year's Summer Seasonal collection draws inspiration not from a specific set of squares on the calendar, but from the transitory quality of nature's gifts. Seasons change. Our favorite flowers come and go. The palette that surrounds us is forever evolving, whether we're appreciating the soft hues of late spring or the rich vibrancy of high summer.
Like the short-lived blooms that punctuate this time of year, there’s an airy, ethereal quality to special pieces at the heart of this collection. However, that's only the beginning of the story; look closer, and you'll discover a rich world of tones and textures Beyond the Bloom.
I love to walk around my neighborhood and observe nature. These days, the waves of intense color that emerge with spring—and the ways they evolve day-by-day—have captured my attention. They wouldn’t be nearly as beautiful if they lasted forever.
Dinnerware
An array of iconic Heath pieces—vases, bowls, serving trays, and more—showcase the intriguing interplay of color and shape that makes this season special. We’ve rounded out the assortment with some pieces that don’t typically show up in Seasonal collections, including our beloved Dessert Bowl and Studio Mug.
Special Technique
The collection’s theme of transition is beautifully represented by its special technique, which uses sprayed glaze to create a fade. We’ve long cherished the unique visual impact of glaze gradients, and in this collection, the application is more tightly focused than ever before, resulting in sharper highlights and a mesmerizing, halo-like effect.
Palette
Glacier and Dusk form the foundation of this season’s palette. These cooler hues are accentuated by the bold vibrancy of Ultramarine—and grounded by the warm earthiness of Clove. It’s a brisk, refreshing palette that’s rooted in springtime while acknowledging (and welcoming!) summer’s approach.
Collaborations
The table always feels fuller with friends, so we’ve invited some of our biggest sources of inspiration from all over the world to bring their creative perspectives to this year’s Summer Seasonal. The resulting collection feels both cohesive and richly multifaceted.
From Japanese sculptor Hideki Takayama, a range of handmade furniture showcasing both exquisite craftsmanship and a rare sense of form, weight, and feel. From Brooklyn-based artist Carolina Jimenez, one-of-a-kind woven paintings exploring geometry, color, and texture. From the storied factory of Kaymet in London, powder-coated aluminum trays in two exclusive colors. And from All Roads in Yucca Valley, CA, a series of functional textiles—including tea towels and table runners—that perfectly complement the season’s palette.
At Heath, collaboration is a key component of craft. It’s an honor to host these (and many other) incredibly talented artisans for this year’s Summer Seasonal, and we hope you find their work as inspiring as we do.
Heath Clay Studio
The Heath Clay Studio can always be counted on to push each seasonal collection to new, unexpected places. This time, they experimented with the crisp palette and playful gradients across a limited set of hand-thrown cups and slip-cast pitchers that add new levels of nuance to the collection.
