We are proud to be this year’s recipient of the
2022 AIGA Corporate Leadership Award, which recognizes one company each year for advancing design and making a positive impact through its policies, practices, and products. As a woman-founded, employee-owned, and community-focused business, it’s an honor to be included among the companies who have received this award. The recognition is particularly meaningful to us as a small business—the smallest in this award’s history—which prioritizes sustainability over scale.
Beginning with our founders Edith and Brian Heath, and continuing with our current owners Cathy Bailey and Robin Petravic, Heath has always been committed to leading with integrity and creative heart—not only in how we make our products but in how we treat people and the planet. Programs like our Living Wage Initiative and 401(k) support the financial security of the majority of our employees. We are currently working towards B-Corp Certification to officially ensure long-term commitment to accountability, transparency, and environmental responsibility.
We are a design company built on one of the oldest human craft traditions. Our history informs and guides us, and our vision for the future motivates us to continually work toward our sustainability and equity goals. And, in the spirit of our iconic founder, we remain dedicated to creative exploration and experimentation, always learning and building on our artistic foundation.
Our co-owner Cathy put it best: “As a 75-year-old, employee-owned company, we have always believed that impact comes from intent, not scale. We have remained an intentionally small business, committed to honest craft, local manufacturing, living wages, and concrete contributions to the world, all through the lens of design.”
Thank you to the AIGA for granting us this award.
