A lifelong friend and master potter, Akio Nukaga returns to Heath for the 12th year. In his second year as a solo artist, he continues to explore his artistic direction, combining architecture and sculpture. The collection, titled Shapes from the Heart, is an exploration of form, texture, and color. The pieces are each hand thrown on the wheel, a technique close to Akio’s heart. Built from stacking three simple shapes—spheres, cylinders, and cones—into sculptural vessels, the collection is composed of architectural designs not typically seen in ordinary tableware.
“Out of all the pottery techniques, throwing on the wheel is the one that is closest to my heart.”
Shapes from the Heart will be on preview only at the Heath San Francisco showroom, from July 14, 2023-July 21, 2023. The sale begins on July 21, 2023 at 5pm, and will only be available for purchase at the San Francisco showroom.
We invite you to celebrate Akio Nukaga’s collection with us on July 21, 2023 at 5pm at Heath San Francisco, and be the first to bring home a piece of Akio’s new collection. The event will be hosted by Tung Chiang, with Akio joining virtually from Japan.
