A fortunate invitation brings California craft to Tokyo, building upon an invaluable overseas friendship between Heath Ceramics and Shinichiro Nakahara of Tokyo’s renowned craft hub,
Playmountain and
Curator’s Cube.
We’re endlessly inspired by the pure, meticulous, and humble design sensibility of Shin and the master craftspeople that occupy his space, and it's an honor to be among them. If you can't make it all the way to Tokyo to see the exhibitions, never fear—Clay Studio Director Tung Chiang has shared
a selection of designs and works that will be on view, along with inspiration he's drawn from Heath over the years.

Monthly, Tokyo’s Curator’s Cube revolves with one expert craftsperson after another, curated by owner, Shin Nakahara. This fall, Curator’s Cube will showcase the work of
Clay Studio Director Tung Chiang for a Heath Clay Studio Retrospective. Spanning seven years of the annual Design Series show, the exhibition will feature a select grouping of pieces—seen for the first time, outside Heath’s California showrooms.
“These invitations and shows allow Heath to be seen as potters, helping us achieve balance between producing classic work and expressing innovation as artists. Here, we have a chance to fulfill both.”
