Akio Nukaga & Hideki Takayama
For over a decade, we’ve been in an inspiring creative exchange with two magnificent Japanese artists, Akio Nukaga and Hideki “Taka” Takayama. This year, they’ve sent us a stunning collection of ceramics and wood sculptures that speak to the magical meeting of human hands and natural materials. Akio’s hand-thrown vessels showcase the organic movement of clay, while Taka’s wood sculpture highlights the interplay of surface and light.
Akio & Taka
It’s a much-anticipated time of year, when we introduce the new works of ceramicist Akio Nukaga and woodworker Hideki Takayama.

Like Edith Heath’s originals, each piece is special—Clay Studio work ranges from one-of-a-kind, hand-thrown pieces to small collections of slip cast forms.
